The moral of the story is: do not kill your "goose."

Is this not how most people act? The "goose" represents capital, and the "golden egg" represents interest. Without capital, there can be no interest. Most people spend all their money, therefore they cannot nurture their "geese." They slay their young "geese" before they have the ability to lay golden eggs.

If you lack a "goose" or a money-making machine, then no matter how much money you earn, you are merely a money-making machine yourself. Spend less than you earn—it sounds unremarkable. However, you will find that saving is not only practical but also meaningful.
